Compliance
Unfortunately,
companies within the construction industry have, over the years, acquired
a generally negative reputation where issues of compliance are concerned.
In contrast, Thermatic has recognised the importance of matters of compliance
not only for the company, but also for its employees as well as its clients.
Thermatic has therefore made this area a foremost priority to the business
and invests significant time and money to ensure that not only are all the
official, legal industry regulations consistently adhered to, but also that
further guidance and recommendations made by the industry are taken on board.
For example, all of Thermatic's employees, involved in operations or design,
have followed the CSCS construction skills certification scheme to be awarded
a CSCS skill card, which demonstrates their complete knowledge and skills
in their area of expertise. Thermatic has furthermore developed its own
policies to address each area of compliance, which the company regularly
reviews and updates, where necessary, keeping all relevant staff fully informed,
and involving them in the company's approach to these areas. The policies'
effectiveness is also overseen by the Managing Director of the company,
Mr David Oakley. The key elements of Thermatic's compliance policies are
outlined below, for further detail or information, please contact Mr David
Oakley.
Health
& Safety Policy
Thermatic enlists the services of an external professional,
namely Peter Thompson, to administer, control and regulate Health and Safety
issues. This allows Thermatic to guarantee its clients receive a service
which, in terms of Health and Safety, is independently and professionally
verified.
In addition, the company's Health and Safety policy statement defines its overall approach to Health and Safety related matters. The policy outlines the responsibilities of all its employees as well as the commitment required to ensure the health, safety and welfare of employees and others affected by the company's activities. In order to guarantee the company's full adherence to statutory obligations the policy communicates the duties of supervisors and employees to eradicate any unsafe practices or actions, and highlights the necessity of full collaboration and acceptance of responsibilities by all. The relevance and clarity of the company's Health and Safety policy is guaranteed by the collaborative nature in which it is regularly reviewed, revised and communicated.
Quality
Policy
Thermatic's Quality policy outlines the quality management system it has
created to ensure the company's ongoing success with relation to the full
effectiveness of its undertakings and subsequent customer satisfaction.
This policy demands that the quality management system be regularly and
objectively reviewed in the light of company performance and customer satisfaction
to guarantee the company's ongoing commitment to continuous improvement.
The policy highlights the responsibilities of all employees to fully adhere
to the relative procedures set out by the company's quality management system,
as well as to generally display their full commitment to working excellence
and customer satisfaction. The employees' full cooperation with and understanding
of the company's quality management system is ensured by company training
and open channels of communication regarding quality related issues.
Environmental
Policy
Thermatic's Environmental policy emphasises the company's absolute commitment
to the protection of the company's employees, its neighbours, its environment
and the public, by detailing the controlled measures it has established
to eliminate any potential risks arising from the company's activities.
The policy stipulates full cooperation from
all employees and covers areas including: disposal of debris; disposal of
old oil; running up vehicle engines; noise; dust; spillages; smoking; burning
rubbish or waste materials; use of combustion engine powered tools; weed
spraying; extraction outlets to the atmosphere; vegetation; wildlife; and
pumping out of blocked drains. As with all the company's policies regarding
compliance, the effectiveness of the Environmental Policy is ensured by
regular reviews, refinement and clear communication of its contents to all
staff.
Equal
Opportunites Policy
Thermatic's Equal Opportunities Policy confirms the company's full compliance
with all legislation relating to equal opportunities, including: the Race
Relations Act 1976; the Sex Discrimination Act 1975; the Equal Pay Act 1970;
the Social Services Act 1989; the Disability Discrimination Act 1995; and
the Protection from Harassment Act 1997. Through the implementation of its
Equal Opportunities Policy, Thermatic ensures that in all areas of operation
including: recruitment; selection; training; working conditions; pay; discipline;
resignation; redundancies; dismissals; and promotion, all individuals are
treated equally and fairly. The company fully supports equal opportunities
and opposes all forms of unlawful or unfair prejudice and discrimination.
Through open communication of Thermatic's Equal Opportunities Policy to
all staff, the company also ensures that its employees adhere to this ethos.
Drug
and Alcohol Policy
Through its Drug and Alcohol Policy Thermatic clearly forbids the possession
of; the consumption of; acting under the influence of; and sale of alcohol
or any controlled substances, by any individual representing the company;
whether the individual is on company premises; within a company vehicle;
on the premises of a client; or at a worksite. The policy states that the
company considers any violation of the above to be gross misconduct, which
may be punishable by dismissal, although the company will treat each case
individually. If a representative of the company be asked to undergo testing
for the presence of drugs or alcohol, refusal to be tested may lead to disciplinary
procedures. The company also demands that employees inform the company if
they are to take any over-the-counter or prescribed drugs which may affect
them in the performance of their duties.
